ABOUT THE COURSE |
|
Approved by the Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Tamil Nadu and AICTE. This is a three year Course in Computer Engineering, leading to the award of a diploma by the Directorate of Technical Education (DOTE), Government of Tamil Nadu and is phased over Six Semesters.
Students are given theoretical and practical training at the institution. There have been dramatic developments in economic policies of the Government of India over the last few years in the direction of Liberalization particularly in the areas of Industry. Of all the Industries coming under the cover of the above development, Computer Industry has taken the first and foremost, and aimed at improving the efficiency, productivity and competitiveness. The Computer world has opened new challenges and opportunities in Industry, Commerce and Management. Therefore there is wide scope for the Diploma Holders who complete the Diploma in Computer Engineering. |

| FACILITIES |

| Our labs are fully furnished with computers ranging from Pentium II, Pentium III, AMD Athlon, Pentium 4 and with fully networked bus topology in a switched environment. Internet browsing facilities are also available on campus. |

| PROGRAM DESCRIPTION |
| The syllabus of DCE includes basic subjects like English, Mathematics, Chemistry, technical drawing and Basic workshops in the first year, Electronic Devices and Digital Electronics, Data Structures using 'C', Operating systems, Microprocessors, C++ Programming, Computer Architecture during second year and Networks, Relational data base management system, Computer installation and servicing and project work during the third year. Electives include Visual Basic programming, Visual C++ programming, Java and COBOL Programming. |

| ELIGIBILITY |
|
Candidates should have passed SSLC / 10th Standard or any other equivalent examination approved by the DOTE, Government of Tamil Nadu. Marks no bar.
The qualifications prescribed above are based on the educational system prevailing in Tamil Nadu. Hence, candidates who have studied in other states are liable to satisfy these minimum requirements, irrespective of the rules prevailing in other states. No relaxation, either in qualifications or in age, shall be permitted and the admissions are subject to the approval of the Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Tamil Nadu. However, in the case of SC/ST, MBC and BC candidates, the relaxation as stipulated by DOTE will be applicable.
Candidates from other states also can apply for admission. They should produce the Board Certificate apart from other original certificates, T.C and mark sheet. Candidates belonging to SC, ST, MBC, DC & BC from other states will be considered on par with OC candidates of Tamil Nadu with regard to age and marks. (This is subject to guidelines of the DOTE prevalent at the time of admission).
Special Note: Under the 'Lateral Entry Scheme', an additional 10% of seats for candidates each from plus two academic and vocational streams are available for direct admission into 2nd year of DCE course. |
