Hindustan
Institute of Engineering Technology
(H.I.E.T) was established in Chennai
in 1966 in response to the need
for non-formal technical education.
Hindustan Institute of Engineering
Technology is run by the Hindustan
Engineering Training centre (HETC)
Educational society and registered
as a Technical Education Society
under the Societies Act, XXI Of
1860. The institution is approved
by the Director General of Civil
Aviation, Government of India,
for conducting Aircraft Maintenance
Engineering Course and by All
India Counsel for Technical Education
and the Government of Tamil Nadu
for conducting Diploma courses
in Automobile, Computer and Mechanical
Engineering courses.
The Institution has trained engineers
and technicians in many disciplines
of Engineering. It is well equipped
with workshops and laboratories.
HIET is widely recognized in the
Asian and African continents as
a premier technical institution.
Various Governments including
the Government of Kenya, Tanzania,
Zimbabwe and the Commonwealth
Secretariat and several aviation
organizations have sponsored students
to undergo courses at HIET. HIET
has trained over 36,000 engineers
and technicians. Over 3,000 of
them are in aviation, now working
with various airlines and aviation
industries in India and abroad. |

| The
main Administrative office is
located at #40, G.S.T.Road, St.Thomas
Mount, Chennai - 600 016. It is
half a kilometer away from both
the Guindy and St.Thomas Mount
suburban railway stations and
10 kms from the central railway
station. One can board electric
trains from Egmore/Park railway
station to get here. The Institute
is 3 kms away from the Anna International
and Domestic Airports. |

| H.I.E.T
has three computer labs with pentium
4, AMD Athlon and high speed internet
broadband facility. The systems
are upgraded with latest softwares
for the academic purpose of the
students. Special training and
hardware classes are also given
on request. |

There
are five labs inside the campus.
Chemistry, Physics, English laboratories
are available for all the branches
in the first year. Other labs
include Strength of Materials
lab and Fluid Mechanics lab. Separate
facilities are available for different
branches. Aircraft Maintainence
and Aeronautical Engineering student
will have Aircraft Electricity
Labs, Engines Lab (Jet, Piston,
I.C), Instruments lab including
various testing equipment for
calibration of various aircraft
instruments, Dead Weight testers,
Aircraft Instrument panels, Vacuum
chambers, ATC-810 Flight simulator.
Our Aircraft Engines lab include
a wide variety of Jet engines
such as Rolls Royce Avon Mark
100 Turbo jet, De Haviland Goblin
Mark 3 Turbo jet engine, Pratt
& Whitney JT 3D Turbo Fan
engine. Automobile, Mechanical
students will get Basic workshop
lab, Foundry, Welding, Smithy,
Fitting shop, Carpentry, sheet
metal lab, Machine shop, Engines
lab, Heat power and transmission
lab and Auto Electrical labs.
Diesel lab contains Diesel Fuel
Injection Pump Servicing. Various
engine models include cut-views
and working models of different
engines. |

| Hostel
accommodation are available for
boys. There are also hostels and
lodging facilities available outside
campus. Admission to these hostels
and other lodging enquiries will
be discussed at the time of admissions. |
